Batucaxé
Tucson, AZ, USA

Batucaxe' is a drum/dance ensemble and school in Tucson, Arizona. Inspired by the music of Brazil, Batucaxe' (bah-too-cah-SHAY) features music from many traditions: samba, samba afro, samba reggae and afoxé from Brazil, as well as music from all over the world.

"We aim to inspire and build our community, through lessons and classes, outreach programs and, of course, high-energy performances."

Batucaxé sent a DVD of their performance at the Family Arts Festival in Tucson to their GAP partner in Doylestown, PA. They also sent a drumhead that had this photo on it. Members of Batucaxé signed the back of the drumhead with their wishes for global peace and goodwill.
