“The Peace House was created as a symbol of the wish that everyone be able to enjoy a safe place to live, as a feeling of safety and refuge is basic to living a peaceful life.
The children aged between 6 and 9 years, each decorated a part of the house with their ideas of what a peaceful world might look like. This was encouraged through listening to stories, discussion and meditation. The candle burning within the house symbolized the common purpose and hope that inspired their work. The light carried with it the wish that all around the world may live in peace.
Children shared their ideas and admired the finished house with one another.
The Peace House traveled to Wassookeag School in Maine, USA. The children signed a card for their exchange community in Maine.”
