One block from the previous "Peace Quilt"
Ericha Scott
Tucson, Arizona, USA

"I was in a room full of generous and kind women who were helping us, the novices.  Although I am an artist, this is the first time I have made a quilt square. The theme for our quilting project was peace and the room was filled with it.
As I looked around everyone was working with their hands and it reminded me of tradition, and the generations of women who have sat together in similar rooms with similar projects.  It seemed natural to place my hands on the fabric and trace them, touching each other in a way that suggests a heart.  Then I cut out another heart and superimposed that on top of the hands.  This is my representation of peace, my wish for world peace, and my experience of peace while creating my quilt square."
